New! Fast multi-purpose colour label printer Epson TM-C3400

Whether warnings on packages, colour codes on components, or colour indications in patient files - colour communicates important information. Its use enables intuitive response, thereby supporting optimisation of work processes and error avoidance. The Epson
TM-C3400 colour label printer makes the creation of such descriptive labels easy for everyone. This fast all-rounder reliably prints a wide range of materials, formats and surfaces at low running cost. The special ink guarantees high durability and smudge proof labels. The Epson TM-C3400 will be available as of May 2009 as both, a USB and a network-version.

Versatile
Particularly when it comes to a small number of labels, it is more cost efficient and faster to print them than to purchase pre-printed alternatives. The Epson
TM-C3400’s versatility is, however, its defining characteristic. The device prints labels, wristbands, tickets, continuous paper and pre cut paper on media with widths from 25 to 112 mm (print width 20 to 104 mm). Convenient: The integrated »Auto-Cutter« is standard and cuts rolls or continuous paper according to individual specifications. Unnecessary paper cut-offs are prevented and the need for storage of many different sized labels is eliminated.

Fast and economical
Large events or special promotional mailings require individual labels within a short space of time. To this effect, the Epson TM-C3400 scores points with a print speed of up to 1,000 labels per hour, depending on size and resolution. And the inkjet printer really goes the distance: one ink cartridge can print up to 10,000 labels.1 By contrast, conventional thermal transfer printers always require ribbon material of a complete label size - even if only one line is to be printed.

Durable, smudge proof prints
Many applications require durable and smudge proof label prints, for example in the medical sector where labels must resist cleaning with disinfection solutions. In comparison to other colour printing technologies the pigment ink used by Epson guarantees excellent durability of graphics, images, texts as well as barcodes.

The Epson TM-C3400 is superior to other inkjet label printers when it comes to operation: it is currently the only model available on the market with all controls on the front of the device. This enables quick and easy change of cartridges and paper – ideal when the printer is placed on a shelf or under a counter. The powerful software and driver support, including SDK2, enable central network administration and configuration of large installations with up to 64 printers.

Economical and environmentally-friendly operation
The use of the Epson TM-C3400 is also ideal for smaller budgets. In comparison to current thermal printers or other inkjet technologies the device requires significantly less power when printing and in stand-by mode. The reason: Whereas in current technologies single components must be heated with a high amount of energy, the Epson Piezo print technology operates without heat development. This is a result of Epson’s efforts to minimise the impact of its products throughout their lifecycle. In addition Epson contributes to saving the environment by following the technical standards set out by the RoHS (restraint of hazardous substances) and WEEE (reduction of waste) directives.

Epson's world premiere: Discproducer™

PP-100

Create data and layouts on a PC, insert CDs or DVDs and off you go. Reliable data burning and realistic photo printing in a single process – fully automatic, just one push of a button: all made possible with the Epson Discproducer™ PP-100. The new CD/DVD production system will be available from February 2008.

The two most significant requirements for professional production are high-reliability and superb print quality. Epson is the world’s exclusive vendor that provides core technologies for high-end industrial robots to 6 colour inkjet printers for professional print quality. Epson Discproducer™ PP-100 merges these two core-competences in one cost-efficient unit.

Low production costs through individual ink cartridges with high capacity
In addition to its sophisticated product design the Epson Discproducer™ can meet high volume demands. Large separate ink cartridges ensure high-quality colour prints of more than 1,000 CDs/DVDs without the need to change the ink. This results in a low cost per print and increases ink efficiency.

Moreover, the PP-100 includes sensors to permanently monitor the ink levels of the six separate ink cartridges. This enables a precise pre-job evaluation of the cartridges’ printing capacity and protects the customer from running the machine without ink, further safeguarding against production wastage and unnecessary costs. Use of the CD and DVD media specified by Epson ensures glossy prints that are instantly smudge and waterproof.

All in one unit – space saving and easy to use
Epson’s Discproducer™ PP-100 makes media production as easy as using an office printer. For convenience Epson’s Discproducer™ is operated exclusively through front feed and can also be mounted within a shelf. With a case width of only 37.7cm it is one of the smallest units in its class. The flat surface allows two units to be stacked on top of each other or using the surface as a storage place. The casing is fully enclosed and does not need to be opened to remove the CDs or DVDs. A robot arm will place the media into a separate output box.

Professional production system for various applications
The Epson Discproducer™ duplicates up to 100 CDs or DVDs in one go and can, depending on the data volume, burn up to 30 and print up to 45 units per hour. The patented AcuGrip™ grip mechanism guarantees easy and smooth handling of the media and CD/DVD drives. It ensures that only one medium is transported and inserted into the drives even if the media adhere.

Whether it’s a professional duplication service or large business, creative agency or other media service provider, government and public sector, clinics and practices: the application software “Total Disc Maker“, developed by Epson, supports all users in all areas with series or individual CD/DVD production. As a globally operating company, Epson also guarantees long-term availability and service for its Discproducer™ PP-100.

“With its Discproducer, Epson has entered the CD / DVD Publishing market and we will also be introducing further products in this range,” explains Leonard Beckmann, BS New Market Development Manager, Epson Europe B.V. “A network-compatible version will be launched during the upcoming year that will underscore our commitment to opening up new market segments.”
